Learn more about Kenswed Dental Project – a proud partnership to support global oral health.
Kenswed Dental Project is a development project by Zelmerlöw & Björkman Foundation and Kenswed Organization within a partnership with TePe. Kenswed to date consists of a hospital, secondary school, boarding school, vocational education center and a dental clinic.
The dental clinic is an extension of Kenswed Hospital and offers people living in poverty preventive and emergency dental treatment. Kenswed Dental Clinic has offered more than 350 of Kenswed's high school students an oral health check-up for free. For many of the patients it's their first time visiting a dentist.
TePe supports the project with financial resources, oral health products, educational materials and through annual fundraising campaigns where everybody can contribute. The project is an important initiative, that TePe supports within our social sustainability work, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Damaris, Community Oral Health Officer, at Kenswed Dental Clinic, is working full time at the clinic. She treats patients and reaches out to thousands of children when she visits nearby schools to spread knowledge about oral health. Since november 2021, she has educated more than 15 000 adolescents in oral health.
With various local efforts at the clinic, the project reaches out to the most needy in the area. Together with our Kenswed Oral Health Ambassadors, we help spread knowledge about oral health. Through theoretical and practical teaching, the Kenswed students can share their knowledge further among family and relatives and friends in their home environment.
TePe sponsors two scholarships at the Institute of Healthcare Management. Their 3-year education results in a "Diploma in Dental Nursing and Hygiene. Sharon and Sophie received this year's scholarships. They will also do an internship at Kenswed Dental Clinic as a part of their education.
